Meet Melanie Haynes
Actress. Voiceover Artist. Storyteller.
Acting has always been part of my life. My first stage was my family’s kitchen table when I was two. That early pull never really left.
I grew up with dance and piano, plus drama wherever I could find it. Later, my family moved to Texas, and I kept going, eventually earning my degree in Theater and English in Houston. After college, I spent several years dancing with Patsy Swayze’s Houston Jazz Ballet Company. Dance gave me timing and discipline. It also taught me how to show up and do the work, even on the days when I was tired.
At some point, acting took the wheel again. I shifted my focus toward film, television, and voiceover. The work has taken a lot of forms. Studio projects. Network television. Indies. Commercials. Long-form narration. I’ve been lucky enough to share scenes with Academy Award–winning actors. I’ve also voiced major animated projects. What I love most is the variety. I get to disappear into different worlds and different people.
I’ve also spent a big part of my career supporting other performers. I served for fifteen years on the SAG-AFTRA Houston board, including two terms as President. That kind of work changes you. You learn how to listen, how to lead, and how to keep things respectful in a room full of strong opinions.
These days, I split my time between Houston and the Los Angeles area. Both places are home in different ways.
And yes, I’m a grandma now. But I’m still curious; still working. Refined, not tamed.
Voiceover Work
I found my way to voice-over after years of telling stories on stage and screen. I love the intimacy of working behind the mic. I’ve been doing voiceover for decades now, recording from my Houston studio for clients around the world. The goal is simple: make the script sound like one real person speaking to another.
You’ll find demos, studio details, and session notes on my Voiceover page.
On-Camera Work
My on-camera career began with Texas commercials and films, and gradually grew into roles on network and streaming shows.
I’ve played warm, familiar moms and aunts. I’ve also taken on darker characters in projects like Antiquities, Blood Born, and True Detective.
What keeps me coming back is the collaboration. I love working with other actors and finding the honest moments.
My clips and reels are available on the On-Camera page.
